Fonts are different typestyles. You can change the way your type looks by changing the fonts or adding effects to your fonts. You can do this in most any program that allows you to edit text – like your word processor and your e-mail software. | Here are some examples of different fonts: Arial Times New Roman Algerian Comic Sans | You can add effects: Arial Bold Times New Roman Italic Arial Bold Italic Comic Sans Underline | And you can change the size too: Arial Bold 10 point TAHOMA 14 point | here are two ways to change fonts in your text - and both use the tools readily available on the toolbar. The image above shows the font (Times New Roman), size (10), and the B (bold), I (italics), and U (underline) tools. - One way is to change the settings listed below before you begin typing. Once you start to type your settings take effect.
- The second allows you to make changes after you have typed the text. To do this, select the text you want to effect. (By select, we mean highlight it by holding the left mouse button down and dragging your mouse across the text you want.) Then change the settings as follows:
- To change the font, click on the drop down arrow in the font box and click on the name of a different font.
- To change the size, click the drop down arrow in the box containing the size number (just to the right of the font name) and click on the number.
- To add an effect like bold, italic, or underline, click the B, I, or U button on the toolbar.
If the font name or number doesn't appear in the box, it means that you have a selection made that includes more than one font or more than one size. Since it can't show more than one at a time, the box is left blank.
For example if you select two paragraphs. One is Arial 10 point and the other is Times New Roman 12 point. Nothing would appear in the box for font or size. If the first paragraph was Arial 10 point and the second was Times New Roman 10 point, then the 10 would appear in the size box, but nothing appears in the font name - because they are still different. However, the change you make will affect everything you have selected
